Description
As COVID-19 infections continue to run rampant and the research surrounding this topic dominates medical literature, the timing of this review could not be more relevant. In this course, research experts, Dr. Heather Zwickey and Dr. Brice Thompson, provide updated, pertinent information on COVID to ensure that the busy practitioner is up-to-speed.
Dr. Zwickey starts this course with an in-depth review of the immunological response to COVID. She is an excellent teacher who can break down scientific and complex topics in a clear, comprehensible way. She discusses the inflammatory response, innate immunity, specific immunity, long-COVID, and questions around fertility and pregnancy with vaccination. Dr. Zwickey also shares how things like pre-exisiting conditions, sex hormones, and the microbiome account for how individuals respond differently to COVID.
Dr. Thompson then provides a comprehensive overview of the various COVID-19 tests including diagnostic tests, adaptive immune response tests, as well as compares NAATs and antigen tests. He discusses which test to use and when. Based on the available literature, he illustrates the varying effectiveness of pharmaceuticals like Ivermectin and Remdesivir, and natural products like zinc, curcumin, melatonin, vitamin D, and probiotics for COVID.
Dr. Zwickey and Dr. Thompson provide an extensive breakdown of COVID-19 vaccines: the different types and what they are designed to do. They cover all of the major COVID vaccines and boosters including Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson.
Dr. Zwickey and Dr. Thompson co-present in a fluid and inviting way that helps make complex topics such as this digestible and easy-to-understand. They even end the course with answers to commonly asked questions that you will likely encounter in your practice. This course provides significant up-to-date information that is extremely beneficial both in and out of your practice, especially in today’s world.
