Sexual activity is alive and well, even in your geriatric patients. This talk will help educate providers on how to gracefully discuss sex with older patients of all orientations, as well as address age-specific issues.
Incidence of sexually transmitted infections are rapidly rising in older patients, as is use of medications such as Viagra. Learn how to help your patients navigate new sexual relationships, safer sex, and be mindful of what medications and/or health conditions might require modification of common sexual activity. Naturopathic Doctors are great at developing trust in their professional care, so are often the only provider that a patient may feel comfortable in broaching sensitive topics such as sexuality.

Dr. Alethea Fleming, ND is a passionate advocate for naturopathic geriatric medicine. She is a Bastyr University graduate and earned a certificate in Gerontology from the University of Washington. Dr. Fleming is the owner of the Vital Aging Clinic in Anacortes, Washington where she has provided care to elders and someday-elders for over a dozen years. Dr. Fleming is adjunct faculty at Bastyr University and Middle Way Acupuncture Institute, as well as a proud member of AGS, WANP, and AANP.
