Description
Both during and following infection with SARS COV2 and other viruses, people report pain. This presentation will cover the viral implication on pain from a biomechanical standpoint, as well as from a systemic inflammatory perspective. Post-viral syndrome is not a new phenomenon, and some people will live with low-to-moderate persistent pain for some time following infection with a whole host of viruses.
Tyna will discuss the manifestation of pain in viral infections, along with various causes of persistent pain, like Viral Myositis, Acute Onset Arthritis, and pathogenies of pain related to the nervous system. She will explain the symptoms of each condition, and how these conditions interact with the body.
This discussion will include a case presentation of Reactive Arthritis, which examines a patient who was infection with COVID-19 and developed severe pain, swelling, and tenderness as a result. You will also learn about another case study about a patient who developed tender joints after recovering from COVID-19.
This course will also discuss conventional and pharmaceutical treatments for chronic pain caused by COVID-19. Tyna will tell you about her preferred naturopathic options for treatment, and how to combine naturopathic and conventional medicine treatments for various cases. You’ll want to take this course if you are hoping to improve your treatment of COVID-19-induced pain.
Please Note: this course was originally recorded for an event held by the Wisconsin Naturopathic Doctors Association; as such, you may hear mention of this event during the presentation. Proceeds from this course benefit the Wisconsin Naturopathic Doctors Association.
